Also called Jade Pearls or Gunpowder to Westerners and Tea Pearls to Chinese. It owes its name to the whole leaves rolled into balls which open out crackling in the teapot. Gunpowder comes from Zhejiang Province and dates back to the Tang Dynasty (618 to 907).
The infusion will give birth to a full-bodied liquor, slightly astringent with vegetal notes. A refreshing length and more intense than other green teas. It is drunk plain, lightly sweetened with honey or flavored with mint as is Moroccan tradition.
