Gunpowder is a classic green tea from the Zhejiang province in China. Originally called '' jade pearl' ' by the chinese, the british nicknamed it ' 'gunpowder tea'' because of its appearance. Gunpowder tea is made up of tea leaves which are hand-rolled into small pellets (sometimes as small as pinheads). It produces a full-bodied cup with a hint of smokiness, vegetable notes and a smooth feeling in the mouth. The liquor tends towards dark green.
In northern Africa, people flavor this tea with spearmint and sugar to create the now famous '' Moroccan Mint '' tea.
