From Shizuoka Prefecture, little known outside of Japan, genmaicha is a Japanese green tea mixed with roasted grains of rice (genmai).
Some grilled rice grains may burst and look like popcorn. This is why genmaicha is sometimes colloquially referred to as "popcorn tea". Harvested from spring to fall.
The light yellow liquor is soft and sweet with herbaceous and iodine notes combined with hints of hazelnut. Also great on ice.
Goes well with sushi.
