Originally called ”jade pearl’‘ by the chinese, the british nicknamed it ‘‘gunpowder tea” because of its appearance.
Gunpowder tea is mostly produced in the province of Zhejiang in China. It is made using ordinary tea leaves which are hand-rolled into small pellets. This tea was harvested in the spring from a plantation which does not use any chemicals. The leaves are panfired and rolled. The liquor is dark green, fresh and full-bodied, slightly astringent with herbal notes.
